I am Miss Nelyssa Mendoza and I teach our Kindergarten students.
I was called to teach in little Port Hardy and made the big move from my hometown of Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario. I initially never saw myself as a teacher but believe that God placed me in several situations that helped mould me into one. A major game changer was a mission trip I embarked on in 2015 to Honduras where I served as a missionary High School Science teacher. Although I had next to no teaching experience, I saw how God worked through my unqualified self and discovered how fulfilling of a ministry teaching was. Upon realization of my calling to share God’s love through teaching, I made the trip to Lacombe, Alberta to get my B.Ed degree from Burman University.
My favourite Bible verse is found in 2 Corinthians 12:9-10 which reads, “And He said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”
